ULI's Outreach function in the community.
The mission of the Outreach Committee is to apply the relevant experience and resources of the District Council members to community issues, projects, and opportunities. The form of assistance will vary and is tailored to the specific issue or question.
One example of possible assistance is a TAP or Technical Advisory Panel. A TAP is a panel of local industry professionals who are assembled to address a specific issue or question. Typically it is a one day event with substantive background material prepared and available in advance.
Other examples include:
- Convening appropriate public/ private parties to address a specific issue or opportunity.
- Developing educational material for public officials.
- Identifying potential private partners/ resources for community projects.
There is a formal application process to apply for this component of Cleveland ULI, however, contacting Fran Willis, the Outreach Chairs, or anyone of the executive committee, is the best way to gain initial feedback on an idea. It is important that potential for a "client- sponsor" or funding source is identified or considered, as ULI Cleveland does not have significant designated monies to provide Outreach programming. However, ULI will of course be willing to help brainstorm potential sources with interested parties. District Council members are the best source for identifying community issues where ULI could be useful in filling critical experience or resource gaps.
Outreach Projects
The Outreach Committee is currently in dialog with the County Treasurer's Office, Jim Rokakis, regarding the burgeoning Cuyahoga County Land Bank, and related foreclosure and lender Real Estate Owned (R.E.O.) issues. A process to identify an appropriate Cleveland ULI role is currently underway.
