Join the Urban Land Institute’s Women’s Leadership Initiative (WLI) for a virtual breakfast meeting featuring highlighted female guest speakers in an intimate breakfast setting. Kelly Hoy, Chief Legal Officer & Secretary, and Sharon Knuth, Vice President of Project Management, with GBX Group will be our June speakers. 

 

This breakfast will provide women in the industry an opportunity to build meaningful relationships and gain career insights as they discuss certain topics. This event is free and for ULI Cleveland Members or Sponsors only. A Zoom link will be shared once registration is complete. 

 

With over 30 years of experience in real estate law, Kelly Hoy oversees the legal and compliance functions of GBX Group. She is responsible for managing the firm’s legal affairs in the areas of equity fund and project structuring, asset acquisition and disposition, financing review and approval, and project due diligence oversight.

Kelly most recently served as Counsel in the real estate group of Jones Day, a worldwide law firm, where she was involved in investor syndication and real estate fund formation, private equity, land acquisition, construction, and permanent financing. Prior to that, she served as Associate General Counsel at Associated Estates Realty Corp. and General Counsel at First Interstate Properties and Legacy Capital Partners where she represented real estate owners, investors and developers in all phases of real estate acquisition, ownership, development, financing and private equity real estate investing.

A member of the American Bar Association’s Section of Real Property, Trust and Estate Law, Kelly also belongs to the Ohio State Bar Association and the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association.
Kelly earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from The University of Akron and her JD Summa Cum Laude from The University of Akron School of Law.
 

With over 15 years of experience in the real estate industry, Sharon Knuth is GBX Group’s Vice President of Project Management, helping to move projects through the due diligence, underwriting, and closing processes.

Sharon was previously a Senior Development Project Manager at PIRHL LLC, a developer and general contractor in Cleveland, where she managed new construction and rehabilitation projects in Maryland and North Carolina with total costs of over $90 million.

As a Project Manager at Victory Housing, Inc., the nonprofit development arm of the Archdiocese of Washington, Sharon managed the development and construction of three new apartment communities for seniors and the acquisition of two properties. While serving as an Acquisitions Officer at Fairfield Residential LLC, she secured tax exempt bond allocations on the East Coast, resulting in $126 million in allocations in four states. Sharon also worked at Enterprise Homes, Inc., where she was involved in Wheeler Creek, a $54 million HOPE VI mixed income redevelopment project in the District of Columbia.
Sharon has her LEED AP. She is an active member of the Urban Land Institute’s Cleveland Chapter and serves as Co-Chair of its Program Committee.

She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Urban and Regional Planning from Miami University, a Master of Regional Planning degree from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, and a Master of Business Administration degree from The Ohio State University.
