Building the 21st Century City: The Future is Now! Keynote Speeches
Keynote speeches from the Building the 21st Century City: The Future is Now! Symposium on March 2-3.
You are invited to join leaders from the City of Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland, the Cleveland Foundation, Cleveland Neighborhood Progress, Gund Foundation, Center for Community Solutions, United Way of Greater Cleveland, US Bank, Project 986 Consulting LLC, Cities for Financial Empowerment Fund, and Enterprise Community Partners for a community-wide discussion about racial equity and how people and organizations can work together to dismantle barriers to financial and economic mobility.
Furthermore, in the wake of recent events that have galvanized protests over the deaths of Black Americans and the disproportionate impact of Covid-19 on people of color, the nation’s collective consciousness awoke to the realities of systemic racism. However, dismantling decades, if not centuries of institutionalize racism, cannot occur without intentional mobilization and strategic partnerships.
Throughout the Forum, community leaders will be discussing ways we can intentionally grapple with racial and economic inequities, create a commitment to systems change, and develop cross-sector partnerships to develop locally relevant solutions.
While the format is virtual, presenters will lead engaging discussions using chat features, polls, and breakout groups covering the following topics:
• Racial Equity in the Financial System and Racism as a Public Health Crisis
• Economic Inclusion-Racial Wealth Gap and Minority Business Inclusion
• Financial Inclusion and the Digital Divide
• Dispelling the Myth: The Unbanked Perspective on Financial Services
• Towards a More Equitable Systems: Local Solutions and Advocacy
After these conversations, stay involved and join the launch of a Bank On Coalition in Cleveland where we will continue this work and ensure that access to safe and affordable banking products and services are easily and equitably available for all.
